佳能CMOS构架和制造工艺相于比索尼来说比较落后。尼康的CMOS大部分由索尼提供,佳能靠自产CMOS的影像,半导体工艺长时间停滞在500纳米线宽上。没有Fab的尼康和徕卡早已飞跃到180纳米和110纳米。工艺的滞后使得佳能全副传感器像素尺寸停留在6微米级别,而尼康则已经达到4、75微米。
